2022 Oregon Youth Sexual Health Awareness and Sex Ed For All Month Proclamation

Join Governor Kate Brown, and the Oregon Youth Sexual Health Partnership (OYSHP) in observing ‘Youth Sexual Health Awareness Month’ in Oregon and what is recognized nationally as ‘Sex Education for All Month’ throughout the month of May.

The Youth Sexual Health Awareness proclamation supports healthy environments for all youth to thrive, and to provide youth with sexuality education that is LGBTQIA2S+ inclusive, antiracist, culturally relevant, medically accurate and trauma informed.

We ask that you advocate to uplift sexual health of young people. Acknowledging that youth, individuals, families, communities, schools, and organizations can and do make efforts towards supportive environments for youth.

Sexual health education is so much more than birth control, sexually transmitted diseases (STDs) and abstinence. Sexual health is vitally interconnected to racial equity, suicide prevention, healthy relationships, consent, mental health, sexual identity and sexual orientation. OYSHP is honored to have the support of Oregon’s Governor and the Secretary of State in observing ‘Youth Sexual Health Month’ in Oregon and ‘Sex Education for All Month’ nationally. Use this proclamation to support efforts in making a difference in the lives of young people by supporting youth sexual health in Oregon and nationwide.
